The House That Daddy Built

This is the simple white house in which I grew up. Daddy built it in 1948, using wood from another old house that was being torn down and then new stuff he had to buy or trade for. The little cinder block building behind the house, was where momma and daddy and my two older siblings lived until the house was built after WWII. The oak tree, ‘out the kitchen window’, dwarfs the house and my little blue car these days. Inside are honest to goodness oak inlaid wood floors in the living room and bedrooms, horizontal tongue and groove cotswain boards make up the walls and ceilings. When we out grew the house daddy added an extra bedroom on the back for my brothers and added a bathroom for convenience. I could go on, but I won’t, " thank goodness, you’d say". This is the house my Daddy built.
